What are edge anchors and edge protectors?

KTU, KTS, KTT & SU 1800 edge anchors are standard steel components installed in in concrete castings before they harden, and function either as load-transferring steel parts or as steel parts protecting the corners of the concrete structure.

What are edge anchors KTU, KTS and KTT used for?

KTU – external edge guards are installed to protect the external or internal corners of a concrete structure. They are not load-bearing steel members. A typical application of KTU corner guards is, for example, as treshold plates.

KTS – internal edge guards are typically used, for example, as a grating support bar.

KTT – edge guards transfer the loads applied to them to concrete structures using their anchorages.

What is the difference between KTS, KTT and KTU edge anchors?

What is the SU 1800 corner protector used for?

The SU 1800 corner protector is installed to protect the outer corner of a concrete structure. It is not a load-bearing steel component.

What surface treatment does the angle steel have?

The angle steel, which is made of structural steel, always has a protective paint on the visible surface. The angle steel can also be delivered hot-dip galvanized.

Materials and dimensions

All edge protections and corner guards consist of angle steel with welded rebar anchors.

The products are made either from

Structural steel (S235JR+AR or S355J2) with protective paint
Stainless steel (1.4031)
Acid resistant steel (1.4401)

The anchorages of the KTU and KTS angle steels are made of rebars in quality B500B and in stainless steel quality B600XB / B600XC (B600KX). The attachments of the KTT angle steel are pins, which are either structural steel grade S355J+N or stainless steel grade 1.4301. Standard sizes range from 50 x 50 x 5 – 100 x 100 x 10 mm.

Manufacturing

The corner fittings are manufactured using the MAG welding method in an EN1090-certified workshop. The products are manufactured by hand welding. All corner fittings are also available hot-dip galvanized.
